Van Meter's Librarian, Shannon Miller, is connecting with the Merton Schools also. She visited the school, made a blog, and two things that reflect her visit. Here they are,

Van Meter Schools
Van Meter Schools is a very small school that has k-12 grade all in one building. The population of the small town itself is 1,251 people. The elementary's principal is Mrs. Arinsten. The high school/ jr. high principal is Mr. Durflinger. We have one on one Mac laptops. We have bought some land that we are hoping to build a future school on, actually in 2010, but that didn't work out. We have a board of 5 members also that makes the large decisions of our school.
Merton Schools
Merton Jr. High School is located in Wisconsin. It has about 8472 living in the town. When you start out in school you go to the k-3rd grade school and then on to 4k-8th grade, which has about 2,000+ people in. The intermediate school's (otherwise known as the middle school) principal's name is Jay Posick. Every student has one on one netbooks. If you fail out, instead of getting held back you have the option of summer school. They have smartboards in every classroom and are piloting the usage of iPads and iTouches in the classroom and special ed. They purchased 37 acres of land for a future school. They have a board that consists of five people that serve every three years.
